The Hawthorn Honor Choir is open to both 3rd and 4th grade students by audition, and our rehearsals began Tue., Sept 18th.  We rehearse on Tuesday and Thursday mornings from 7:30 a.m. - 8:15 a.m.  Our scheduled concerts are Dec. 5th at 6:15 PM and Mar. 25th at 6:15 PM, both in the Oak Ridge Gym.  We also have a very special concert at Hawthorn on Jan. 21st at 6:15 PM as we "home concert" for the Honor Choir's MMEA State Convention Concert at Tan-Tara on Jan. 24th.  The December and March concerts are performed together with the Camdenton Chorale from Oak Ridge Intermediate.  A highlight of the year is the tradition of both choirs singing "Take Me Out to the Ballgame" at a St. Louis Cardinals game. at a date to be announced!!!  :)

The classroom music program features a grade-level concert for each grade, with the 4th grade concert scheduled for Nov. 18th and the 3rd grade concert scheduled for Nov. 19th.  Both concerts will be performed in the Hawthorn Gym at 6:15 p.m.  In the classroom we also work on contrasts/comparisons of music fundamentals, and a highlight for the students is the 4th quarter keyboard unit in which each student has their own keyboard and headphones to further their music education.

I am in my 25th year of teaching and my 18th year of teaching elementary music in Camdenton.  I have a Bachelor of Science in Education and Diploma in Cello Performance from Missouri State University, and a Masters of Music in Cello Performance from Kansas University.  My husband and I will celebrate our 22nd wedding anniversary this December and we are the proud parents of our bright and quite precocious 9-year-old son!  I love living and teaching in Camdenton--Go Lakers!!!  :)
