• Computers II is a semester long class made up of seventh and eighth grade students.  Throughout the semester student complete a variety of projects to add to their ePortfolios.  One project which is new for the 2015-2016 school year is a blog.

Creating a blog is a process as well as an experiment with students as myself learning what works and what doesn't.  Each student selected an article that he or she found interesting, at first the students just read the article.  Next, they were to re-read the article looking for the following information:  interesting facts, new information, vocabulary, and figurative language. After which we discussed why we needed this information.  We then looked a different newspapers and discussed the different parts.  Students then discussed what parts they wanted for their own online news or blog.  While they agreed there needed to be different topics, several wanted to write on the same topic, therefore they randomly picked topics and then researched information about their topic and pitched their article idea.  Both 2nd hour and 5th hour Computer class have completed their own blog article.  Each hour voted for the Headline article, all articles are student edited.

Second and Fifth hour Computers II students have taken the first steps in partnering with two schools in Israel.  Students have researched and discussed the theories of Janusz Korczak and his beliefs in regards to children's rights.  The students have discussed his Declaration of Children's Rights and then created their own works sharing their points of view.  These works have then been compiled to create an Online Newspaper.
