Health Occupations II is designed for students who wish to pursue a career in the health services field. While the primary objective is to prepare students at the health services assistant level, the knowledge they receive in anatomy and physiology, medical terminology, and basic entry level skills in nursing and other allied health fields often enables them to go beyond the assistant level after graduation. It provides an excellent background to begin any career in health care.

Through classroom study, laboratory training, field trips, guest speakers and on-the-job training, the students become increasingly familiar with career choices available to them. Health Occupations II provides over 90 clinical days at a variety of different health service areas including hospitals, skilled nursing and long-term care facilities.

Students must provide proof of Hepatitis B vaccination, receive a TB test, and pass any other tests required by the clinical site which will include a criminal background check and drug screening. Uniforms are required at the students' expense. Additionally, Health Occupations II gives students the option of becoming a Certified Nurse Assistant. Students that choose this option will meet the requirements of 85 hours on the floor experience at skilled nursing and long term care facilities. Students will then be eligible to take the National Certification Test for Nurse Assisting (C.N.A.). This class also includes the opportunity to pursue embedded communication arts credit.
