• Welcome to the new school year!

I would like to introduce myself to you.  This will be my nineteenth year of teaching and my eleventh year in the Camdenton R-III School District.  We have six children that keep us very busy!  I received my undergraduate degree from Central Missouri State University and my master’s degree from Northwest Missouri State University. I have teaching experience at the middle school level, elementary level, and at the early childhood level.  This is my eleventh year teaching early childhood and I truly love it!

I am very excited about this year!  You will be amazed at how much your child will change and grow up this school year!  To my new preschool parents, I know it is always hard for you to leave your little one for the first time at preschool.  I had to do it six times, so believe me I remember the tears (by meJ) and how apprehensive I was.  You and your child will get used to the routine of school in a few days. The first few weeks are always the hardest!

The first day of school your child will need a backpack with his/her name on it and a change of clothes to be left here in case of spills or accidents.  Please put these inside a Ziplock bag with your child’s name on the bag.  The backpack will need to be large enough for a three ring binder to fit inside.  Please remember that tennis shoes are the best for school.  It is hard for little ones to play on playground equipment with flip-flops and they also like to take them off.   You should also have a supply list that was sent out during enrollment.

We have classes on Monday, Tuesday, Wednesday, and Thursday.  We do not have students on Friday. We have an AM Preschool session and a PM session.  In between both sessions is when our staff has lunch and sets up the classroom for the afternoon session.

Make sure you call the main office at Dogwood when your child is absent, 346-9239. Please feel free to call or e-mail me with any questions at 346-9239 and/or kvirtue@camdentonschools.org I ask that if there is something important that I need to know right away, please call the main office.  I may not be able to check my e-mail until after the students leave for the day.

I am looking forward to a great year!!!

    Ms. Kara
