I grew up on a farm in rural Oklahoma. My grandma drove 30 miles one way every week to make sure I had piano lessons and so I fell in love with playing the piano and with music. I received my Bachelors of Art in Music Education from Southeastern Oklahoma State University and my Master of Music in Music Education from the University of Houston. I began teaching for Camdenton R-III in 2006. In 2011, I became a Nationally Certified Kodaly Instructor. The Kodaly Method of music instruction involves teaching American folk songs and games and using them as a basis for music literacy. Our students will pair the Kodaly Method with the Orff method which is a system of music education involving percussion instruments. Recently, our classroom was warded 2 glockenspiels through IMPACT grants.
